I did that couple month ago but it was not accepted for time being. Considering I did not do separate branch for my changes, I had to remove main PR. If David is going to appear again, I am eager to put my changes main project

Do you have any idea why your modification could be crashing, it seems that I cannot open it no matter what I try, I can use the original Quad64 though...

12: Question
Question about this editor and compatibility in general. This editor says it was built to be able to create rom hacks that are compatible with original n64 hardware via a flash cart, such as an Everdrive 64. I was wondering, what is the recommended way to be able to edit a rom that can be extended to allow editing in toads tool 64 and sm64 text wrangler, but make it so that it is still compatible with original n64 hardware? I was trying to make a rom hack that was a simple level edit of the worlds that moves stars around and adds new challenges to the stars, basically a Super Mario 64 Pro mode. In it, I used toads tool for texture editing to make the stars green and to make mario's model into the Luigi one. I also used the text wrangler tool to edit some of the text within the game. I also had to use Sm64 editor to change the star spawn location for the star that you get when you defeat king bob-omb. I then tried to load it into my Everdrive and it wouldn't work. If you could give me some tips or tricks that can make this possible, please let me know! There are so little hacks that are compatible with the Everdrive so I wanted to try and make my own. Thank you so much.

What? Level editors like TT64 & Quad64 do not break console compatibility as far as I know, since they mainly make small modifications to level scripts and textures. I'm not sure where you got that information from, but I have never stated that.

There isn't really an easy solution to fixing ROM hacks at the moment, as there are no tools at the moment to fix ROM hacks and you'll need a lot of technical knowledge to do it manually. The main issue is with VL-Tone's original ROM Extender (which you should not being using, by the way), and some versions of Skelux's SM64 Editor. Mainly the newer versions of the SM64 Editor still have misaligned decompressed MIO0 blocks, which will cause the game to freeze when trying to load data from the ROM file. I'm sorry to say that you don't really have many options on getting your ROM hack to work on real hardware, until someone comes up with a proper solution to fix everything.

If you're interested in the topic of SM64 console compatibility, then I recommend both the console compatibility thread on smwcentral and this wiki article detailing the exact problems we've discovered so far.

By the way; The admin of this forum doesn't want us (the SM64 hacking community) to be on here anymore, so we've moved on to other places. This is why you see the hacking section locked on the main forum page. If you wish to discuss with me further, then I recommend going on smwcentral or Hack64.
