Odds down there are some pointers pertaining to the sounds. I remember the Rom being stunningly unstructured so unlike anything by Rare you probably can't apply patterns to where they are. I could almost be a good idea to start a google document or something and note down the addresses for sounds so that we can create a "rom map" to assist mib_f8sm9c Smile

im on it now why im making there's sounds for the character.
im keeping a list of sounds by characters and so forth.

Hello, I am new in this forum. I would like in the first place to thank all the work that is being done with MK64. I would like to thank the creator of Banjo (I have finally played with something different in MK64). I've missed being able to play with the other characters created, and I sometimes wonder why they do not upload patches of the works? No tools to create patches?

So far it seems that the hacking of MK64 covers the following aspects:
-modification of the music
-modification of the sounds (of characters for now)
-modification of the characters' graphics

So I want to make a suggestion but I do not know if it should go in this topic MK64 Pitstop (V.0.0.5.1 Beta) or if on the other hand for this must be created an independent tool. Can create something to be able to modify in each character its abilities, attributes as it appears in the status of each character in mario kart DS ?. For example:

-speed
-acceleration
-weight
Handing
-drift
-yaw

I think that creating the characters is very good, but I think they lack the ability to differentiate them in each of the different attributes or attributes. For example I have played with Banjo but I still can not help but notice that Banjo is still in Peach's language, and I would like to feel that I play with a character with totally different abilities to the original 8 characters of MK64. Imagine a tool where you can move from less to more of any language in any character. Some will ask you exactly what I want? So that someday you can create a character like Kazooie, but this character must be much lighter weight (much lighter weight than Peach, Toad and Yoshi), perhaps with slightly more abrupt turns than other characters, the Acceleration and maximum speed slightly higher than the rest of the characters. I would also like to create characters much heavier than Bowser, Donkey Kong or Wario. For example Krunch or Drumstick by Diddy Kong Racing.

Just a couple of things, since I'm currently super busy but really impressed at the attention MK64 modding is getting.

If the rom tells you that the image is too large, typically that's not a height/width issue, but rather an issue with compressing the image. Most images in the game are compressed in the MIO0 format, and the texture editor right now only overwrites texture data if it can fit in the same # of bytes as the original image. Meaning that the new image COMPRESSED must meet the same size or smaller than the image it's replacing. This compression size is affected by the complexity of the image (imagine a flat colored circle vs. a shaded sphere in terms of image complexity).

I've been working with some other folks too with the sounds, and no one has been able to find Yoshi's sfx yet. Conveniently, the sound/music data is among the most well organized data in the ROM, following the same format as other ROMs, so I'm sure it's somewhere in there with the others. On a side note, if you ever have a bug where you add new sfx but the rom becomes mute, that means that you've accidentally overwritten the music data in the rom by importing too big a sound file. I have a good workaround for this, but that's a future development. If you really need it, contact me and I can provide you a patch to fix the rom file for more space to add sfx.

For kart stats, I actually have a development version in the works which has those stats fully available and editable. I'll get around to releasing it, but I'm moving across the country in a week, so I'm currently really not in a great place to be doing it. I'll have to put off the level editing that I really wanted to hammer in, but the attention in this program has gotten hot enough that it'd probably be a good idea to go back and fix up the texture/kart stuff, as well as include new sound tools.

So mib_f8sm9c said "but the attention in this program has gotten hot enough that it'd probably be a good idea to go back and fix up the texture/kart stuff, as well as include new sound tools" and I can't help but feel a little guilty for kind of starting this latest round of interest with the Kart graphics, and of course burdening you with the interest; but can I say that I'm thrilled to see that others are taking the next steps as I don't really have the facility to do so myself!

Oh well, may as well throw some more gasoline on the fire. Here's a decent Link: http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=61576463703454365621

I actually had a lot of trouble with Link, the proportions don't suit the game visuals, and its ended up much like my prior effort. I tried to get a bit sensational with the selection graphics, and I'm not totally convinced that it works, but it's in the wild now so it'll be what it is, and it all appears to be in order Smile It's odd when you're sitting there trying to pick ideas for animation and trying to figure out how you can get "heaps of character" into the 9 frames available for doing the animation. I wanted to do the spin attack. There weren't enough frames. Wasn't sure what to do with his minish cap for the Kart while driving, and did try having it "animate" along with the angle changes as though it was flickering in the wind but it just ended up looking like a epileptic episode waiting to happen - hence the delay getting this one out - and probably because I thought too much about it!

Im back with sounds For SAMUS

https://mega.nz/#!B3oxAZgR!9BnUKUM3fFKRZ55agkA4glpO4xeNQbGrLSmF3DzRMio

and as i said WALUIGI sound improved

https://mega.nz/#!8jIAyYoJ!ZtqDdaUn2CNVU1Bg7fYXpDE7h3FSzPptRtKfiwDbl7M

and a really back LINK image lol

https://mega.nz/#!AyJXjQBb!vlEFvWQKClCWLwUQwKi8kIQZgiCcYRGPATWgGJjprfg

and thanks MRKane for fixing link kart ive been avoiding using him cause Luigi image left in it lol.
but cause hes fix ill work on his sounds next

mib_f8sm9c i did some more test. make a new project and don't modify the game at all and make a rom and run it.
the game with some characters will show mario when the congratulations screen is shown. think the tool is not picking up the image and showing mario as default
and others cant find them at all and just crash. so in battle when its over the game crashes cause its trying to show mario two times and crashes or nothing and crashes.

i know ive said this before but i thought id do more test to try and find the key problem. is there anyway your tool can insert in to the rom then just build one.
or is that not a option

Hey AriesDark! Thrilled with your work!

I'm still not totally happy with the Samus select animation, it just doesn't seem to be "her" if you get me.

Pertaining to what we're doing here - it's going to be fantastic when the editor can support audio as well, but in the meantime we should compile everything into one rom and then release a DeltaX or ipa patch for the community Big Grin

I know what you mean by her select animation. But Hay your trying to pixelise a 3D character. And you are just one person working on her. Plus all my 3d tool and all that I've lost when my Hdd crashed 5 year's ago so I'm not that much help in the area right know.

And yes. When I've finished with all my sounds and others I find here I'm going to put all the characters and sounds on a Rom. But it will crash sometimes but can't be helped lol. I was going to change the title at the start.
Background. And a new announcer voice. What was the name going to be for this project. We need a good start-up title.

The Rom I thought together will be a prototype with bug and crashes lol

I might look at overhauling the Samus select animation tomorrow just as a quick little task (as I'll not have much time to do anything over the next while due to necessary travel). As for names, my Goldeneye mod was "Dam Redux" which pretty much says only what it is...I'm not the one to ask for names as I'd call it "Mario Kart: Re-Release" or something Chirpy
